Getting older is meant to be fun.
Especially in business. Years of doing the hard yards begin to pay off as you get older.
More money, more choice, more freedom, more time.
Does this sound like you as a Baby Boomer Business Owner?
Or are you thinking you will still be working when you are 70 years old?
Joe thought that.
He had a successful manufacturing business, had a great team but was starting to become more stressed and tired.
He had never thought about how he would transition to retirement. He had thought that he would just sell his business, but after a few failed attempts, was starting to wonder if he would be working in his business into his 70’s.
Then one day, he felt a pain in his chest. Luckily, he was near his Doctors office and made an appointment. He was told that he had a minor heart attack and was lucky.
Next time he might not be so lucky.
This made Joe stop and realise that his lifestyle and his business was starting to have an impact on his health. He didn’t want his family to suffer if something happened to him.
Joe then spoke to a friend Dave who had also had a business but was now retired.
Dave explained that he too had a moment when he realised he had to begin to plan the retirement from his business or his health would suffer.
Dave explained to Joe that with the help of his Financial Adviser, Dave ‘Knew his Numbers’.
He knew how much money he had for retirement and how much he needed if he wanted to keep up his lifestyle.
This gave Dave clarity, control and confidence.
It allowed him to create a plan for his business transition.
Knowing your Numbers is the first step to a successful transition from your business into retirement.
